Can you believe we’ve already reached the penultimate letter of Patrick Carter and Lynn Whitbeck’s “PERFORMANCE” in Sales series? Over the last several months, these two sales experts have taught us their top sales power skills, as illustrated by their “PERFORMANCE” acronym. So far, we’ve explored the first nine letters – “Problem Solving,” “Engagement,” “Resilience,” “Flexibility,” “Originality,” “Resourcefulness,” “Magnate,” “Agility,” and “Negotiation” – and now the duo have reunited to explore the second-to-last letter, “C,” standing for “Collaboration.”
It’s certainly true that getting along with others is a vital life skill. But do you know just how far collaboration will get you in your sales career?
Learn all about the power of collaboration in our new Performance in Sales podcast below:
We all know that it’s good to be a team player. Many a job description will list it as a prerequisite, and it’s likewise a common inclusion on resumes. But this isn’t just empty rhetoric to fill in job roles. Collaboration truly is vital to your success as an individual and to the success of any team or partnership.
Why is collaboration so crucial to sales? One major factor is the simple fact that sales is all about relationships. You’re building relationships with your clients, and how well you work with them can either make or break your future with them. Patrick and Lynn share their own examples illustrating how collaboration (or a lack thereof) has helped or hindered their own sales careers.
Now that we’ve established that collaboration is a necessary skill, let’s look at how you can develop this trait or behavior. Even if you’re not great at collaborating yet, you can absolutely learn to be. Lynn and Patrick share tips on how you can foster this skill. In no time, collaboration will be something you practice with ease, and your sales career will be so much the better for it. Learn more in the podcast above.
