Summer is just around the corner, which means a lot of us are planning out vacations around the world. In addition to all the fun activities you’re planning, make time to plan out how you’ll stay safe, too. Safe travels won’t hinder your good times – if anything, it will make your trip even more enjoyable. The more prepared you are, the fewer unpleasant surprises and setbacks you’ll have to deal with. With a little know-how, you’ll guarantee an awesome trip.
The first step is having a written plan of how you will get to your destination, including layovers and transport to and from airports. Don’t forget that it often takes 20 minutes or longer after the plane has landed before you can deplane when planning your layovers and shuttles! Next, consider where you’ll stay – a hotel, hostel, or Airbnb. Think about which neighborhood you’ll be in. Learn enough of the local language to get around and find help in emergencies – or at least have a good translator app on your phone. Figure out what monies you’ll need to bring and how to keep them safe. The podcast also looks at how to look and move like a local, inasmuch as possible, to avoid becoming a target for scammers or pickpockets.
