The pervasive idea in our society is that achievements need to happen when we’re young. If you miss milestones by a certain age, it’s too late… or so they say. But as so many successful, happy people can attest, wins can occur at any age. Our guest Jannette Anderson proclaims she is #NotDoneByALongShot, and we should all embrace this attitude! On this episode of our Claim Your Career Crown podcast, Jannette talks about “maturepreneurs,” getting older, and how we’re actually aging like fine wine.
Watch our podcast with Jannette Anderson about maturepreneurs:
Jannette Anderson, like many of the women she works with, is #NotDoneByALongShot! She is a business development expert with over 40 years of strategic planning, sales, and marketing experience–and she is STILL stupidly in love with what she does!
She has been a corporate trainer, taught marketing and entrepreneurship for universities and colleges, and done her time in the corporate trenches in roles ranging from print-shop press operator to V.P. Professional Services for a Canadian Fortune 500 company. Her breadth of experience and depth of expertise help you succeed at whatever stage you are at!
She is passionate about working with maturepreneurs to identify, claim, and position their value so they can make a meaningful difference AND a magnificent living!
Her other major passion (besides Scrabble and zip lining across jungles on three continents and counting…) is facilitating personal transformation. Jannette is dedicated to helping experts and business owners get the four inches between their ears working so that their business can work!
Overcoming Ageism
There’s so much pressure to achieve things when we’re young. Not married by x age? Too late. Not successful by the time you’re this age? You’re too old to achieve success now. But not only is this thinking toxic, it’s also plain wrong. Many of the highest achievers in history saw their biggest successes later in life. Consider the likes of Toni Morrison (first novel published at 39), Julia Child (first cookbook published at age 50), and even Colonel Sanders (franchised KFC when he was 62). Suffice it to say, we can achieve great things no matter our age.
Jannette attests that we are #NotDoneByALongshot and still have a lot to offer when we’re “mature.” But even so, being a “maturepreneur” can be a challenge due to ageism and our own self-limiting beliefs. How can we overcome these obstacles to making personal and career progress after we’ve reached a certain (arbitrary!) age?
What can you do to embrace the #NotDoneByALongshot mindset? Tune into our podcast to find out!
